So, this may be a very boring first post, however I am a little new to this. I was 'urged' to start blogging at the end of the day during my "Down-Time" in order to collect my thoughts, clear my mind and relax my soul before bedtime. The only problem...it's way past my bedtime already.
This week started off...should I say...stormy? We had a thunder and lightening storm, complete with hard hail...topped off with two hours of power outages. In a new home, this can be and was, quite creepy. But we made it through, the food didn't go bad in the fridge, nothing came close to defrosting in the freezer **knock on wood** and our home remained warmer than expected.
My seven year old son didn't understand the loss of power however. Instead, he tried to "reason" with us, letting us know that all we had to do was flip a switch on the PS2, and plug the T.V back in. When we explained to him that the Power Company had to flip the switch to the power, he responded by reminding us that, "the Power Company doesn't own this place...WE do!" After discussing this topic with us, for what seemed like an eternity, he finally decided to wrap up in his favorite blanket, and go to sleep for the night.
Neil and I on the other hand, enjoyed soft laughter and reminiscing by candlelight. When we first got together 2 1/2 years ago, that was our favorite retreat. Sometimes, we'd stay up all night and talk while the scented candles burned, leaving a beautiful glow and a sweet smell around the living room.
Our new shelter rescue dog only took a week to get used to his new surroundings. He finally found his "voice" three days ago, when, out of sheer instinct, he responded loudly at a light rapping on our front door. Even HE looked surprised that he could make such a noise....thus, doing it ever since. No, it hasn't gotten out of hand, as he knows the command to quiet down, and does so without hesitation.
The more I sit at the computer, surrounded by unpacked boxes in our office area, the more sleepy I get. It's a gentle hint to hang it up for the night, and begin all over tomorrow. Soon, our office will be completely organized thus lifting off another ton of bricks from our shoulers, LOL.
Goodnight all, and sleep tight!
